A new canvas is always an adventure waiting to happen.
Some people carefully plan their work, laying out the composition, setting out colours that have secondary and complimentary contrasts, list the qualities which they are going to use to portray their subject.
Not me – or so I thought.

The ability to critically examine the world around her, starts with visual (and often aural) observation. Developing the ability and habit of seeing what is actually in front of her instead of assuming something is a certain way, is the starting point for both simple illustration, copying what already exists, and expression, re-presenting what you observe through your own experience or point of view. I became a grandma this last week. I also painted a window for Mother’s day at Quality Foods in Campbell River. This work is more of a commercial art genre; however the same basic values underlie all my art. The process of communication is paramount even if the context of communication varies.
